Single Glazed

Single glazed glass is one layer of glass or can be known as single pane of glass. Single glazed glass is also available in improved forms, e.g. toughened glass etc.

Toughened Glass (also known as tempered glass) that has been heat-treated to induce a high surface and /or edge compression. Fully toughened glass, if broken will fracture into many small pieces (dice) which are more or less cubical. Fully toughened glass is approximately 4 to 5 times stronger than annealed glass of the same thickness when exposed to uniform static pressure loads. When toughened glass breaks it shatters into small pieces minimizing injury.

When buying, renovating or having a home built, it is important to take windows and doors into consideration as they provide light and fresh air, and offer views that connect our interior living spaces with the great outdoors. However, ordinary windows can also represent a major source of unwanted heat gain in summer and significant heat loss in winter.

At Glass Tech Australia, we offer a variety of residential and commercial glass products for windows and doors, with toughened, laminated, tinted and insulated glazed options that can meet most design parameters. Our insulated glass units can reduce heat transfer by over 50% whilst minimising the need for artificial heating and cooling, and are an essential component to a modern energy efficient home and business.

Glass Tech Australia’s Laminated Glass can also provide you with the strength and stability in a glass when it is required most.

The most basic of our products. Called ‘float glass’ because when it is manufactured, the molten glass is ‘floated’ on a bed of molten tin, giving the product smooth, distortion free surfaces.

ultra clear glass is a premium glass product that combines exceptional clarity, minimal color distortion, and the same practical benefits of regular clear glass. Its high transparency and reduced greenish tint make it a preferred choice for applications that demand superior visual quality and color accuracy.

Tinted clear float glass, also referred to as colored clear float glass, is a type of glass that undergoes a manufacturing process where a slight color tint is added. This is achieved by introducing small amounts of metal oxides into the glass composition during production. The choice of metal oxides determines the resulting color and intensity of the tint. Common examples include iron oxide for green or brown tints, cobalt oxide for blue tints, and selenium or sulfur for gray tints.

Low-E (low-emissivity) glass is a type of glass that has a special coating designed to reduce the amount of heat transfer and minimize the loss of indoor heat while allowing visible light to pass through. The term “emissivity” refers to the ability of a material to emit radiant energy.

The coating on low-E glass is typically a thin, transparent metallic layer, usually made of metal oxides such as tin oxide or silver. This coating reflects heat energy (infrared radiation) back to its source, which helps to keep the indoor environment warmer in cold weather. At the same time, it allows visible light to enter, so the glass remains transparent.
